Roberto Cavalli SS2003 Floral Embroidered Jacket and Skirt Atelier Prototype Set

This Roberto Cavalli ensemble is an atelier prototype, retaining its original handwritten sample number tags (see pic 9). As a non-production sample set, this is an exceptionally rare piece from the SS2003 season — potentially one of a kind. The denim jacket and the mermaid skirt creates a striking interplay of texture and form, merging edge with romance in a way only Cavalli can achieve.

The fitted jacket is crafted in washed blue denim, tailored with a sharply contoured silhouette that defines the waist and eliminates the bulk typically associated with denim. Classic elements — point collar, flap chest pockets, and front button closure — are reinterpreted through precise seaming that enhances the hourglass shape. The surface is richly embellished with Cavalli's signature tattoo-style embroidery, combining scrolling script, flaming heart motifs, and delicate florals rendered in multicolored thread.

The skirt is crafted with semi-sheer blush-pink silk georgette, cut in a mermaid silhouette that closely follows the hips before releasing into a sweeping flared train. The entire surface is embroidered with intricate botanical compositions, featuring rose motifs intertwined with delicate foliage, all executed in remarkably detailed threadwork. Toward the hem, banner motifs are integrated into the embroidery, introducing Cavalli's signature tattoo-inspired element that echoes the jacket's detailing.

As styled on the model (pic 7-8), the skirt is paired with a Valentino chiffon top finished with a bow in the same soft pink hue, creating a romantic, one-of-a-kind look.
