Valentino SS 2007 "Darianna" Wedding Gown

This archival Valentino “Darianna” wedding gown is crafted entirely in ivory mikado, a structured fabric with a smooth surface and subtle sheen. The silhouette is fitted through the bodice and hips, creating a long, elegant line before opening into a dramatic gathered skirt and sweeping train.
The bodice features a clean square neckline with subtle contour seaming near the bust. The short sleeves are finely pleated, adding texture while framing the shoulders beautifully. At the left shoulder, oversized three-dimensional flowers are built from layered ivory fabric petals, with softly frayed edges that give the blooms a delicate, hand-worked quality. Long narrow ties fall from the petals, finished with small leaf-like ends.
The lower half of the gown is anchored by four rosettes, with two positioned near the hip and two placed lower along the skirt. These rosettes catch the skirt into rounded, pouf-like volumes, creating a bustle effect that adds drama and sculptural dimension to the side silhouette. From there, the skirt extends into a long, softly rounded train, with generous folds of mikado spreading behind the body. The result is a rare, archival wedding gown that balances a clean, body-skimming front with romantic floral construction and couture-level drama from the side and back.

🫧 Reference: This gown was worn by Bianca Balti for the Valentino Sposa Spring/Summer 2007 campaign and also appeared on the Valentino bridal runway.
It features the same rosette-anchored side-bustle train construction seen on the Valentino Fall/Winter 2002 Haute Couture red gown, famously worn by Anne Hathaway at the 2011 Academy Awards.

🫧 Condition: Good condition, with wear consistent with age and the delicate nature of the fabric — 7/10.
The front of the gown has occasional faint yellow dots and minor pulls on the body and near the hem, none of which are noticeable when worn. The shoulder flower has a few small black dots on the underside of one petal. They are only visible from a lower angle when inspecting closely and are not noticeable when worn due to the layered floral construction.
There are visible tailoring marks near the back zipper, measuring approximately 30 cm in length. These can be tailored out if the gown is altered down to a smaller size or covered when worn with hair down or a veil.
The left leg area has some minor pulls. The back hem has some marks and pulls, but due to the generous train length, these could be removed or reduced through hemming or alterations. All the noted flaws are shown clearly in the last three images.
Overall, the gown presents beautifully when worn, with the structure, rosettes, floral details, and train preserved.
